Before I get in to this post, I'd like to say that I don't think regular people need to be do any sort of math in order to lose weight. If a person follows a natural diet then they don't need to be counting calories for weight loss.
I think the only reason you would ever have to be concerned about swimming calories, if you're training for something specific like a fitness or bodybuilding show or a photo shoot, where you need to reach a certain body fat percentage. In these circumstances, counting calories might be a good idea.
